Annesley Colliery, Persimmon Homes |
|
The Annesley contract comprised the re-profiling of the colliery tip and the remediation of the colliery yard area. The challenge faced was to make the colliery tip more attractive to wildlife and the colliery yard suitable for a mixed residential & commercial development. In addition to the site works, Merriman Limited took on the responsibility for the discharge of the planning conditions, the validation of the remediation, the approvals of the E.A. and the certification by the NHBC. |
|
In addition we guaranteed to the house builder, through a performance specification, that our proposed scheme would result in the land being suitable for either standard or raft foundations. Work commenced on the 4th of July. The photograph to the right shows the old colliery tower, whilst the photograph to the left shows the extent of the site. |
Diversion of Empingham Road, Ketton |
Merriman Limited were appointed by Castle Cement to project manage the design of the diversion of Empingham Road, Planning permission was granted by Rutland County Council to divert this road to allow for the expansion of the Ketton Quarry. Merriman Limited are currently dealing with all planning issues, road design and the legal matters associated with the diversion of a public highway. We hope to be involved in the construction process and take the project through to completion. |
Two major aspects of this scheme are materials handling and construction of an underpass to allow the quarry's one hundred tonne dump trucks to pass under the road. We are currently excavating clay and sandstones from under the route of the new road to achieve this. The road embankment will the be constructed with the overburden and clay that the quarry produces which is not required for their cement production. |
