Merriman Limited purchased this 5 hectare site in 1996 when it was home to Cossington Commercials.
Well positioned on the edge of Charnwood and providing easy access to the M1, the
site enjoys beautiful and historic views of Bradgate Park in the distance. |
Charnwood Edge has its own electricity sub-station, no connection to a gas supply and a number of
underground sewage treatment plants and is therefore completely independent and self supporting.
Charnwood Edge then began a period of considerable change over the next few years; we started with
building a unique purpose built studio for Checkland Kindleysides, a prominent design consultancy company.
The older workshops and office space on the site were quickly filled with a variety of tenants from different
business areas, most of which are still here today. |

In 2005 Merriman Ltd relocated to Charnwood Edge from Thurmaston, initially into a modular office complex
while we built our own offices and workshop, finally moving in during May 2006. These offices (as with all
of our new builds) incorporate the latest environmentally friendly facilities.
In May 2007, Industrial and Marine Silencers (part of the Bradgate Containers group) relocated from Shepshed
into our new workshop. Their offices are presently based in a ground floor section of Merrimans office while we
build their own premises in the north-east area of the site (see plan). |
There are two other major developments for Charnwood Edge, currently in the planning stage and it is our
intention to continue to develop the site over the next few years to achieve an industrial park of variety
and distinction that will bring commerce and increased jobs to the area. Using quality materials and our
extensive development knowledge, Charnwood Edge will be our flagship and role model for future and similar
managed sites around the country. |
