Merriman has constructed a road within a medieval settlement in the county of Rutland.
The 700m access route required sympathetic excavation with full-time archaeological supervision so that any historical artefacts could be identified and safely recovered.
Merriman used rollers to compact and level the ground, and was also responsible for excavating and installing piping for services.
The client was delighted that Merriman achieved a cost-saving by sourcing and using local stone, and that the road was completed ahead of schedule despite the necessary employment of specialist methods.
